PROVERBS 3:5-6 King James Version
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
There are some Bible verses that are ingrained in my heart and mind. Proverbs 3:5-6 was a seed planted in my soul decades ago, before I was introduced to ‘religion’. This verse helped me break away from religion and develop a relationship with YHWH. It is this verse that I was reminded of when I started thinking about my dreams. My dreams are my life, now, however they are not profitable, I don’t make money writing books, this blog, my YouTube channel (though that was not a dream of mine), or even my sewing activities. So why do I keep at it? Because my dreams are my desires and God gave me these desires as well as the talent to carry them out (Psalm 37:4).
In the past I made just enough money to cover the cost of the activity and purchase a few personal items. I lived a just enough lifestyle but today just enough is not good enough, I want and need more than enough.
Unrealized dreams are fantasies and fantasies don’t pay the bills. Many people have big ideas, big goals and even bigger dreams that they do nothing but talk about. Talk is cheap, turning dreams to reality cost. There is a price to pay when carrying out your personal dreams.
I was and am willing to pay the price IF God directs my path.
God gave Moses instructions, a desire, to lead His people. Moses agreed to follow His instructions only if He, God, came with him: Exodus 33:11-17. As a Believer I know that Satan will take me where I want to go as well, even faster, but the end result is not the same. Moses knew he was destined to lead and in his first attempt he killed someone- Exodus 2. It took him, Moses, 40 years to get back on God’s path.
Following God’s path does not always make sense to the human mind, in the beginning. Following God’s narrow path in order to fulfill your dreams can be uncomfortable. It is important that Believer know God’s word personally because it is in His word that His directions are revealed.
I have been painstakingly following His directions. Praying He guide me, seeking confirmation as to if I heard correctly and knocking on doors of opportunity (Matthew 7:7-8). Obedience is the key to moving forward.
I have discovered, following my dreams is not an easy road but it is a better road than the one I was on before. I made the decision to seek eternal blessings and not earthly riches- there is a difference. What I have is peace, everything I need every day and joy. I will follow my dreams into eternity because that is when I will know that I have achieved them.
Jesus said: “And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” What is your dream? What is the desire He put in your heart? You have been doing things your way for quite a while now, how about if your cast your net on the other side(John 21:6)? It may not make sense but if God gave you the desire then God will direct your path.
PROVERBS 3:5-6 THE VOICE BIBLE
Place your trust in the Eternal; rely on Him completely; never depend upon your own ideas and inventions. Give Him the credit for everything you accomplish, and He will smooth out and straighten the road that lies ahead.
