DAY 3- NANOWRIMO

Writers will write at all hours day and night, especially once we have started a project. It is Thursday, November 3, 2022 12:45:47 AM, I haven’t gone to sleep yet because I had a need to write something! In the quiet of the night the words are able to flow freely through my head uninterrupted. This is where I am now.
There are many individuals out there that have a desire to publish a book, they enjoy writing but don’t understand what it takes to actual publish. These individuals do not identify as writers they write a lot of words on social media, send detailed text messages and write lengthy journal entries- they write. These individuals have yet to make the transition from being a writer to becoming an author; authors are published writers. Most writers will not become authors
I would encourage would be writers to start releasing their words through a blog. Both WordPress and Blogger provide the opportunity to establish a web page for free. Blogspot will even monetize the site so that the writer has the ability to earn money. My first webpage blog was with WordPress then I added a Blogspot / blogger page. WordPress is more popular because it is easier to convert it to a independent webpage. (It is important for the user to understand that Free sites have its’ drawbacks including who has ownership of the words published on the site- read the fineprint. Because name recognition is crucial in selling any type of writing, especially if you are going to self-publish, having a blog and promoting it on social media will help. If writing a blog becomes to tedious chances are you don’t want to really be an author.
There are three truths that I discovered over the years, they are not the only truths but I think they are important for the writer to be aware of. The first truth a person must understand as an author is: some genres sell better than others. Erotica will sell faster than Christian fiction especially if no one knows who you are. The second truth is: It takes years to publish a book the traditional way; you have to have a agent and the agent has to find a publishing company that will take a chance on making money off of what you wrote. Self-publishing is becoming a greater option to many writers; there are many companies that will take advantage of a persons ignorance causing the individual to spend more money than necessary to have printed copies of their manuscripts. The third third truth: In order to make a substantial amount of money the author will have to market heavily, writing was the easy part. Don’t quit your day job! It takes years if ever, to make a living wage from writing, especially if you are not going for the more lucrative topics.
I can say that I made a profit after self publishing The Truth About Vashtai. My initial investment of, less than $600 I got back and over the years I have received a few royalty checks- not much. My ebooks were pure profit but I did not make that much money on them because of the subject matter and the fact that I did not promote them as I did The Truth About Vashtai. My plan is to convert my Blogspot blog to a personal page and promote my re-released, after revising, ebooks and allow for ads. Yes I have to keep my day job!
My expectations are different now. My audience is always that one person I need to talk to today; she needs to have the information I share with her in writing for future reference. I know what I write is not popular and a lot of my words go against the traditional grain but it still needs to be said.
In 1998 I was enrolled in a Ministry Training and Development class, one of our assignments was to seek God’s wisdom regarding our purpose (my purpose) we had to fast and pray. This is one of the verses the Spirit of God lead me to when I He told me to write:
HABAKKUK 2:2-3 (KJV)
2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

From time to time I will get positive feed back from someone who has read something I wrote. Though I continue to blog I haven’t published a book in years, yet my last royalty check was received in August of this year (2022). Something I wrote around 2010 was read 12 years later. Writers write not knowing who is going to read their words or when the words will be read.

Over the years I have gone through a series of transformations. These changes are reflected in my words. I don’t do what the experts tell me to do, it is not my style and when I try to follow their ways I mess up. THIRTY DAYS OF NOT WRITING Is my way of presenting my style to other would be Christian authors.
If you are going to carry out the will of God it is important that younot trust the opinions of man. Several Bible verse come to mind as I write this:Phippians 4:19 ad Matthew 6:33 along with Habakkuk 2:2
Philippians 4:19 -But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

My desire is to publish this experiment and trust the words to land in front of the right eyes. (It is an experiment because of the format.) I plan to release sections on my blog, as mentioned, and maybe compile it in book form. Nothing is etched in stone.

I am an active participant of National Novel Writing Month- these entries are unedited on purpose- Marsha L Floyd
