I WANT TO PLAY THE LYRE!

LEARNING TO PLAY THE LYRE PART 7
I received my lyre on October 17, 2023, after 2 weeks of exploring the nuances of the instrument I determined that I wanted to learn how to play the instrument. I told myself: If I did not like playing the lyre I would either sell it or give it away. Today, November 1, 2023, I became committed to learning t play.

My first song, as I have mentioned in previous post was: TWINKLE TWINKLE LITTLE STAR! After about a week, I can almost play it without looking at each string. If nothing else, I know where G5 is; I have broken it enough times. Today, I added AMAZING GRACE.

PARTS OF THE LYRE:
Note: The Donner Lyre Harp, the one I purchased, is made of Mahogany in the and has ancient Greece style with 16 Metal Strings. Not all harps are made with the same material nor do they all have the same shape.

BODY: the largest part of the Lyre, some have holes in the middle
BRIDGE: The string passes over the bridge which is at the base of the lyre
ARMS: Can be an arc shape above the body but may differ depending on the design.
TUNING PINS: are located at the top of the lyre and holds the string in place.
STRING GASKET: These are the tiny metal punched into the whole at the bottom of the Lyre. The end of the string with beholding by the gasket and stops it from going out of the hole. The number of holes is the same number of tuning pins obviously as the pins hold the string on the upper part and the gaskets in the lower part.
SOUND HOLE: not on all lyres, can make the sound louder and fuller

Create your own path to learning the harp, you are different than the individuals you are watching on YouTube or me. Learning the parts of a lyre, how to care for your instrument are just as important as learning a new song. Most important: make sure you have fun.
