I was sitting in my living room watching tv. A young man knocked on my door and my betrothed answered it. The young man handed my betrothed 2 dinners, said a few words and my beloved yelled at him, as he walked quickly away: “Let me know the next time you do this and I will help.” Had the young man who presented the fish dinners paused to talk to us: We would have declined the food and perhaps contributed to his ministry financially. This gentleman knocked on my door, without introducing himself, there was no offer of prayer or inquiry if I even needed food. I was thinking Jesus fed the people but he also ministered to them.
I made another post on Facebook about how Christian women dress. The comment was based on the conversations I have been having with men who want to get married: men don’t want to marry a woman in sexy clothes.(There was a song about it years ago: “I want a lady on the street but a freak in the bed”- something like that.) A woman commented, I am paraphrasing.: A man who does not want a woman to look good has a problem.
This woman who was offended that men would not want Christian women to dress sexy. Her opinion seemed to be that women dressed sexy to accent their beauty, this is true. Accenting your physical traits is how prostitutes get their clients. I am a strong supporter of modest dressing because this is how God instructs His daughters to dress.
Everyone has the right to their opinion and these are my thoughts that I write out loud: Christians are to live according to God’s will not our feelings or opinions. And the two examples above are people doing or speaking based on what they think is right.
Proverbs 14:12 (KJV)
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Proverbs 16:25 (KJV)
25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Proverbs 21:8 (KJV)
8 The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.
