THOUGHTS OF MARSHA…A CHILD OF GOD

The following are the unedited words of me, Marsha ..

What does it mean when a person says: “I am a child of God”? The same individuals may refer to themselves as: Black, Hispanic, a Democrat, a Republican, a city girl, a country boy, a Zeta (or other sorority or fraternity), a mom, dad, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, the list goes on. Do these labels reflect your identity in Christ?

Ephesians 1:3-6 (KJV)
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

To be a child of God is our identity. I race and our gender are how He created us and it is not necessary to reference it, unless you are intentionally going against His will (I am referencing those who have anti-biblical sexual lifestyles). Cultures, political ideology, where we live and who we affiliate with these identities are man-made labels designed to limit your behavior patterns; these labels may not agree with Scripture. Being a mother, father, or other type of relative have to do with purpose, genealogy is in the Bible. Being a child of God defines: who your follow, who defines you, who directs your behavior, and what you can and cannot do.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

We live in this world for a period of time. The Bible teaches us how to navigate while we are here. As you read your print Bible, pray for understanding. Ask the Spirit of God to help you see and understand what is written; He will help you apply the written word to your everyday life.
If Jesus is Lord of your life and someone ask you about your earthly label tell them: I am a child of God.
