Sometimes we have problems that we want to talk to someone about, just talk. We don’t want the hearer to solve our problem, we want the friend to hear our side of the story, women talk to their friends about their problems too much. Social media has become the best friend of far too many people, particularly women, resulting in private information being made public.
Matthew 11:28-30 (KJV)
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Growing in faith means we learn to go to Jesus first. Christians are becoming dependent on others praying for them instead of praying themselves, it is amazing how many prayer request I see. Yes, there are times when we do need someone to pray for us, if for no other reason but to have support as one goes through whatever the experience is. But there are some who are dependent on others praying for them. Is this a lack of faith?
Matthew 7:7-8 (KJV)
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
There are times, when I was on the church prayer team, I felt like people wanted someone to agree with their wrong decision not have God actually answer their prayer.
James 1:5-8 (KJV)
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
The bottom line is this: If you read Scripture you will see your answer. If you pray He will give you an answer. If you ask someone to pray for you the prayer should be based on His word. If you know God’s word then do God’s word, obey Him. I am not saying that you should not ask for prayer, I am saying going to people about your problems is not the answer.
God will help you His way not your way so let God do it.
