ANGRY PEOPLE

Proverbs 15:18 (KJV)

18 A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

Wrath is a dangerous thing it is a type of unyielding belligerence,it is vengeful the likes of what I see in the world today. Mark 3:25 speaks of a house divided against itself, it cannot stand, maintain its integrity; stirring up strife weakens the integrity of a home, a business, a church, a community and a nation. There are people of influence who are filled with wrath influencing the world, the nation, communities, churches and even homes. Unfortunately, many Christians do not see this spirit, strife, and are responding with anger.

I see too many angry Christians.

Proverbs 29:22 (KJV)

22 An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.

Anger is infectious, like a virus many people may not suspect they are getting sick but they disregard the symptoms. The presence of strife, an inability to come to agreement, should lead to discussions which would result in some type of agreement but when anger is the root of the problem there can be no resolution.

Proverbs 21:19 (KJV)

19 It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.

Proverbs 22:24-25 (KJV)

24 Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.

How should a person overcome anger?

Romans 12:21 (KJV)

21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Yes, I believe there are times when it is OK to be angry, the difference is how you handle that anger.

Ephesians 4:26-27 (KJV)

26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

27 Neither give place to the devil.

What I see, in the world today, is angry people who are doing demonic things. Demonic “things” are behaviors that go against the teachings of Scripture. Unrighteous anger leads to sin, regardless of your personal relationship (or lack thereof) with God. Angry people hurt other people, including children.

What prompted me to write this post was the level of wrath I was watching on YouTube and hearing while at work. My personal response to the lack of unity I see today is to move closer to God and further away from the things of this world.

Isaiah 26:3-4 (KJV)

3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

Acts 17:27-28 (KJV)

27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

I believe in the infallible word of God. I am a Christian, a follower of Yeshua Hamashiach (Jesus the Messiah). Sometimes, I am aware of strife in my life and I have learned to:

  • Pray and allow the Holy Spirit to guide me away when I enter negative situations
  • Avoid, whenever possible, people who I know are angry or have a tendency to create adversity
  • Pray before I speak while at work. These are times when I cannot avoid interacting with angry people
  • Remember, I am a child of God not a product of this world
  • Not watch programs that promote anger, directly or indirectly.

I cannot stop people from being angry I can not respond to angry people in an adversarial way.
