This morning I was thinking about smiling, it was just a thought that came to my mind in which I started thinking. I smile most of the time without realizing I am smiling and people smile back, when I am in public. Often these people speak to me and I speak back, smiling.
Many people don’t smile, I notice among women of color, African-Americans in particular, they don’t smile. White women, when I see them, will change their indifferent, perhaps thoughtful, look to a smile when we establish eye contact. If we exchange words, the smilee and the smiler (made up words ?) we discover we are both Believers! That is not to say that the Black women are not Believers.
The easiest way to bless someone is with a smile. Smiling does not cost anything, not time or money and it should not be offensive. I say should not be because there are people who will take offense at your smiling- just keep moving! The problem with some, I suspect, is that smiling with eye contact leads to conversation. Oh my!
James 3:10 (KJV)
Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
This is why I write to Believers of the word of God and not to the world. Until a person understands the importance of speaking the significance of a smile will fall short of understanding.
A smile is a ministry in and of itself. A smile can bless or curse, ask a body language expert. There is such a thing as an evil smile it is presented in conjunction with the eyes. The reason why I am a lousy liar is because my eyes don’t lie, look at me when I speak and you will know my sincerity. When I am in a store and see someone smiling, I smile back. A sinister smile is accompanied by unrelaxed facial features particularly around the eyes- I am not an expert. Smiling is a relaxed facial position. When we hear and look at a person who has that “look” we tend to become offensive, not a blessing.
The question becomes, the challenge is: Did you, will you, smile blessings when you interact with others?
