PARENTING: STOP BAILING THEM OUT

Discipline is something many parents rebel against. It is not that they will not but many just don’t feel like it, Parents, NOT ALL, have to have: “me time”, “time with the fellas”, “need a break”, and other excuses for not addressing the issues related to correcting inappropriate behavior. The lack of discipline in the home is why there are so many government run CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTES.

Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

I hear parents say, as I watch these court shows: He wasn’t raised like that. Yes, he or she was raised to disrespect authority and ignore rules. Every time a parent makes an exception to the rule a child learns there is an exception to the rule. Whenever a child:

  • sees or hears a parent talk negatively about someone,
  • speak about what he or she is going to do to that person,
  • ignores obvious behaviors in his or her child like bringing home things that are unaffordable
  • permits a child to speak inappropriately to an individual that is older than he or she is
  • prioritize the accumulation of stuff while ignoring poor grades
  • or knows that the child is doing illegal activity but does nothing about it

These parents are training their child/ children in a way they will go. We never stop being a mother or father but as a child gets older he or she should be more responsible.

Dear Parents: If you don’t parent the government will initiate corrective action.

Hebrews 12:6-11 (KJV)
6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.
11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
