I grew up spiritually in a “Word” church, a place in which “name it and claim it” and “have a need sew a seed” ideology was taught. I left that church because I moved to another state but, that mindset was implanted in my heart. Fortunately, I learned by trial and error that that naming it and sewing seeds was not how God helped his children.
No matter how loud you speak when you “name it”, or how many people you get to pray with you and, no matter how much money you give to the church- tithes, offerings and then some- God is not moved.

Deuteronomy 11:26-28 (KJV)
26 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:
28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

Mark 7:9-13 (KJV)
9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:
11 But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.
12 And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;
13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

I share these two biblical principles to emphasize how important adhering to God’s word and not man’s opinions is.

Yes it is important to give, not as man states but as the Holy Spirit guides you. Don’t neglect your family to make sure the Pastor / Church Leader is “blessed” or the church can build a bigger building. Your blessings come from your obeying Him not them!
