I have forgiven the person who did the most harm to my body and soul, in addition to others. I have forgiven myself and I have asked for forgiveness.

Mark 11:26 (KJV)
But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

You cannot be free if you do not forgive; you are bound, if you do not forgive. You are bound by the hatred, anger, bitterness and lack of love that takes root in your soul. You may not follow the trends but you can’t follow peace either.

John 14:23-27 (KJV)
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

The Comforter is not with you, Jesus is not present in your life if you have not forgiven. Unforgivingness is part of this world and you, unconsciously perhaps, made a decision to be a part of this world.

John 14:27 (KJV)
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 16:33 (KJV)
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Part of my being able to be independent was facing the pain of the past and forgiving those who have come against me, family and friends, and forgiving them; therefore, I have peace.
