There is a lot of negativity going on in the United States of America. I believe I should be aware of what is happening but it should not be my primary focus. My go-to Bible verse, as I have stated on more than one occasion, is Matthew 6:33 because it helps me focus on what is important.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
I was out of bed by 5AM today and I started watching various positive programs on YouTube. First there was the story of the mother who withdrew her child out of a school because of the anti-government stance they were teaching the students, apparently she posted the incident on TikTok and it went viral. The next video was about a man who was born without limbs, he was a husband, father of two and an encourager of parents and their children who had the same challenge. I saw a story of a young man with down syndrome who brought joy to the patrons at the restaurant where he was employed for the past 15 years. And then I watched the story: “Family adopts elderly neighbor as honorary grandpa”, an 82 year old widow and a family of color with 3 children living life as neighbors and family. If I watched any news this morning, I don’t remember. After watching those videos Philippians 4:8 came to mind and I had a: “Yep, that’s what I am going to do!” moment.
Philippians 4:8 (KJV)
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Part of being prepared is being aware of what is happening and understanding that no matter what they are doing I have to survive. As a follower of the teachings of Jesus, a Believer in the Word of God, and one who is lead by the Spirit, I have reminded myself to focus first on the Kingdom of God and the things I need to live in this world will be added, given by my heavenly Father, to me. #FocusOnFaith #Words2GrowBy
