THE WEDDING DAY

Don’t get so caught up in the ceremony that you forget what happens after you say “I do”.

EPHESIANS 5:20-27
20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

A woman should be learning how to be a wife in the months, weeks, days and hours before the actual ceremony. Many women today are busy coordinating a “destination weeding” with the perfect environment and the perfect outfit. There are women who have no problem with being a “bridezilla”! Worst, there are churches who give a superficial pre-marital counseling session, or sessions, without really telling the couple the truth- THEY ARE NOT COMPATIBLE.

The wedding day is the day that the covenant is finalized. The wedding day is the day in which the commitment is declared in front of witnesses- be it one person or thousands of people. The wedding day is the day that the man and the woman stand before God and His earthly representative (even if it is a court clerk) and declare they will live as one body, representing on earth God’s covenant He has with His children.

MATTHEW 25:6, 13
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

When you say “I do” you acknowledge him as the priest of your home. When you say “I do” you agree that to submit to your husband as lord of your home, just as Sarah submitted to Abraham.

1 PETER 3:6 (
6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

Today’s teachings do not emphasize the importance of being a wife and a mother. These are two very important “callings” and they begin at the alter.
