LIVING INTENTIONALLY: DISTURBING MY PEACE
John 14:27 (KJV)
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
I have been troubled for a few days. It was more than that, I have been troubled about many things: family, finances, a job I am tired of and of course self induced debt. Where is my faith?
Luke 10:41-42 (KJV)
41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
My focus has been more on the cares of this world and less on God’s Word. I had a routine in which I began and ended my day with prayer, I was doing it half-heartedly. I had to stop and think. Like Martha, there are many things to trouble a person’s soul but like Mary time in His presence is more important.
Intentionally living a life of faith based on God’s word not man’s opinion can be challenging if you allow stuff to take priority over remembering Him. I was living with an agenda of my own creation because of what I wanted to do.
John 16:33 (KJV)
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Jesus instructed His followers to not allow our hearts to be troubled by what is happening around us. Because of the state of this world we must constantly remind ourselves of the peace we have been given.
I have reminded myself, I have to go to work, I cannot do anything about what people will do, including family, therefore, I am not going to let my heart be troubled. The world is going to be crazy, I am going to let them feed themselves and sit at the feet of my Lord and Savior; intentionally!
