INTENTIONAL LIVING: HUMBLING MYSELF

James 4:10 (KJV)
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

I struggle with being humble, most people don’t see it because most people have the same problem. I knew it was a problem years ago when I had over 4,000 Facebook followers and I was following people who followed me and I agreed with them. That was over 2 years ago, I shut my Facebook page down and then I came back, I only have 1o followers but I still look for those likes! I want the attention.

Proverbs 29:23 (KJV)
23 A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Yes, it is pride that causes a person to think that someone must hear his or her opinion. It can be offensive when someone disagrees. “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” (Proverbs 16:18 KJV) You don’t fall first, things just start going wrong, when a person is prideful. A haughty spirit is the lack of admitting that you are wrong which leads to a fall, a failure, embarrassment and or disgrace.
I destroyed my Facebook page partly because I needed humbling. Anger is an indication of pride. I was becoming angry because people, not just on Social Media, were rejecting my opinion. Had I not let go of the pride, and released the anger my life would have been troubled not blessed.
In the past five years I have been adjusting my attitude. But then I noticed people who did not want to hear my opinion and it bothered me. I was upset over things that I had no control over because my opinion; how dare they! No, I did not say that or think that but looking back that is what it looked like.

Matthew 23:12 (KJV)
12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

Abased, what does that mean? To be reduced or lowered, according to Webster’s; it means to be put in your place. We are in a world today in which people want to be recognized for whatever they done. I am guilty of the same problem. I repent, I have had a prideful spirit and I have decided to intentionally live humbly.

It is not about being right or wrong. I am a Believer in the word and will of Father God the Creator of all things. He has the final say over everything, my opinion is but a grain of sand in the middle of a forest.

1 Peter 5:6-7 (KJV)
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Reality check! My “job” is to is pray about it and leave it alone, unless God instructs me to do otherwise.

James 4:10 and 1 Peter 5:6 both read the same thing: I need to be humble and if God wants me to be recognized he will make it happen, I just need to be humble no matter what.
